Lost in the Lanes

If the name wasn’t indication enough, Lost in the Lanes can be found tucked away in Brighton’s beautiful South Lanes. The venue itself is stunning; the combination of a glass front with an effective use of metal features gives Lost in the Lanes an open, modern feel.

The subtle design choices are reflected in their coffee service. Sitting outside on a hot day, we were brought a jug of ice water; details like this can make the world of difference. The coffee itself was light and delicate.

We tried a long black which had an elegant floral flavour, and a pour-over that was excellently paired with a dark chocolate and raspberry tart. The beans we sampled were from the always excellent Has Been Coffee.

Lost in the Lanes updates and rotates their coffee on a regular basis, given their high standard, however, this is an exciting prospect indeed.

Bond St. Coffee

A coffee shop for coffee lovers, Bond St Coffee should be high up on the list of any coffee aficionado in Brighton. These baristas know what they’re doing and they do it well.

More often than not you’ll be greeted by steamy windows and, once you step inside, you’ll be welcomed by one of the friendly and knowledgeable members of staff, with an option to choose from two single origin coffees.

These coffees are roasted by the shop’s sister company and highly regarded roastery, Horsham Coffee Roasters. As such, the baristas at Bond St have one main focus: to make your coffee taste as good as it possibly can. In this area they certainly excel and place themselves in the upper echelons of coffee shops in Brighton.

They also offer a single origin filter alternative and have recently begun cooking their own food, in-store, with a choice of muffins, warm sandwiches and some of the best banana bread in town.

While seating can be precious inside, it is the high quality coffee on offer that makes Bond St a true gem in the Brighton coffee scene.
